Everyone has been talking about it; Flash on the iphone! The latest version of Flash (CS5) will enable users to create native iphone applications. This means this isn’t an upgrade for the iphone so it can run Flash files, Flash will actually be producing iphone applications. The news has sent shockwaves through the Flash networks, and it can only mean good things in the future for Flash developers and iphone users.
Flash is an incredibly powerful application, quickly allowing good Flash programmers to create useful applications, interactions and games. The release of CS5 is set to increase the demand for good Flash programmers exponentially, as companies start creating masses of games and apps for the market place.
Currently there are already 5 games available online that have been developed completely in Flash, and CS5 is being released as a beta version later this year, with the full release set for 2010. I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am at this prospect, and not just the iphone but other mobile devices. The update to Flash will also enable developers to compile Flash applications for online so that users using the iphone browser can see Flash content (currently this inaccessible).
More to follow on this soon… Watch this space!
